No new recipes were tried this weekend

....and I have not been shot!!!!!!  (Although I did get the stink eye for asking a child to clean her room, I think if there had been a shoot the parent rating for that job, I may have been wounded!)

Hee hee hee.  Yesterday, I did make the Vegan Pot Pie for my parents and they quite liked it.  The kids ate pizza with Captain Picky Pants.

This week we are going to be trying a few old foods with new ingredients.  We will try to usher in the return of baked potato night with vegan cheese and sour cream.  ( There really is not a big difference if you use the Daiya  (www.daiyafoods.com) brand cheese.  ALSO be on the lookout for CASE OF DEERS night!!!!  (Quesadillas !!)

I feel pretty good about my odds with those things.  Now what to do for the other 4 nights?!?!  LOL  There are several fun recipes on the Daiya site, including fondue.  My kids LOOOOOVE fondue, so I think perhaps that might be an option one night too!

  1. mmm....black beans. I'm terribly omnivorous, but agree that the American diet (And I'll hazard the British diet as well) is very over loaded with protein. I wouldn't expect to gauge your daily protein intake from just this handful of recipes in any case. My inner foodie wanted a couple slivers of tofu (preferably marinated and broiled, lol) or a handful of chopped peanuts as a garnish to your otherwise yummy looking miso soup.
When it turns cold, You try a sweet potato and black bean stew. You can season it like chile (could use pumkin instead of the sweet taters if you want), but it is FANTASTIC done with curry and orange and lime juices.

  2. Overloaded with carbs, processed junk and greasy protein!! LOL OOoooo I will have to try the sweet potato and black beans. I have a roasted red pepper and sweet potato soup that I love. I have YET to even try tofu!!! But as I am still (marginally) under my first 100 days as a vegan, I have time to go into the soy meats!!! LOL
